Portland: A look at the region’s new export plan
With annual exports of more than
$22 billion, the Portland Metro region is an export powerhouse. Last year, the
Brookings Institution, a Washington D.C.-based economic policy think-tank,
identified Portland as the nation’s second fastest growing export region and
selected the region to be one of four metro areas in the country to participate
in its Metropolitan Export Initiative. Now, after a year of study in cooperation
with the Brookings Institution, Greater Portland’s Metro Export Initiative has
been developed to help the region take advantage of emerging global markets,
bolster the strength of its export economy and grow local jobs.
Join federal and regional public-
and private-sector leaders as they unveil the export strategy, discuss why the
region was chosen and explain how Portland-region employers can better connect
to global customers and growing emerging markets.
